A note on accessibility: We understand that financial hardship is real, especially during serious illness. If cost is a barrier, please reach out — we're committed to finding a way to support you and will consider reduced rates or sliding-scale arrangements on a case-by-case basis. No one should face the end of life without support simply because of money.

Our Policies

Booking & Scheduling

Sessions are booked by mutual agreement, typically in blocks of one to three hours. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 48 hours. For urgent situations, please note this in your message and we will prioritise your request.

Cancellation Policy

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a 50% fee. We understand that serious illness is unpredictable, and we handle exceptional circumstances with compassion and flexibility.

Confidentiality

Everything shared within our sessions is held in strict confidence. We do not share information with family members, medical professionals, or third parties without your explicit consent, except where we are legally required to do so for safety reasons.

Scope of Practice

We are end of life doulas, not medical professionals. We do not provide medical advice, nursing care, or clinical support. Our role is to complement — never replace — your medical team. We work alongside doctors, nurses, and palliative care providers.

Payment

Payment is due at the end of each session, or weekly for ongoing clients. We accept bank transfer (EFT). An invoice will be provided for all sessions. We do not currently accept NDIS funding, however we may be able to assist with paperwork for private health funds — please enquire.

Self-Care & Supervision

To provide the best possible support, we attend regular professional supervision and engage in our own self-care practices. This is part of our commitment to ethical, sustainable practice and to you.

Common Questions

What is an end of life doula?

An end of life doula (also called a death midwife) is a non-medical, trained companion who supports people through serious illness and the dying process. We offer emotional, practical, and spiritual support — without replacing medical care.

Do I have to be dying to work with you?

Not at all. We support people at any stage of serious illness, from diagnosis onwards. Many of our clients begin working with us early in their illness journey, which allows time to build a relationship and work through advance care planning thoughtfully.

Can you work with my family as well?

Yes. We often support both the person who is ill and their family members or carers. These can be separate sessions, or we can work with you together — whatever feels most helpful.

I'm not in Northeast Victoria. Can you still help me?

Yes. We offer all of our services by telephone for clients outside our area. Geography is no barrier — if you'd like support, please reach out.
